In 2008, the CMS (Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services) adopted policies objecting the compensation of the payment made –following the treatment of hospital-acquired conditions at different healthcare institutions (Sherrod, Brown, Vroom & Taylor Sullivan, 2012). The serious disability and the deaths arising from patient falls – occurring among the patients under the case of healthcare institutions – are among the hospital-acquired conditions that could not b e compensated. Among the solutions proposed to address the problem of patient falls, through the guideline summary drafted towards its prevention was the adoption of hourly rounding. The hourly rounding program was proposed as the program to facilitate the monitoring of changes in the comfort and the conditions of patients, which could counter the increasing incidences of patient falls (AHRQ, 2008).
